Jacob Michael Dean is a film editor and director based in Los Angeles with a Bachelor's Degree in Film and Television Production from NYU.

Growing up in Sacramento, California, Jacob has always been interested in movies. As a child, he created home videos with his little sister as a way to entertain himself and his family which inspired him to pursue a career in filmmaking.

In 2018, he started his professional editing journey by volunteering for a non-profit organization and assumed the role of Lead Video Editor. He started learning on Non-Linear Editing software including Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.

In 2020, Jacob worked for the government during the Covid-19 Pandemic, editing and producing training and in-house marketing videos for the State of California. At this time he had received two Student Documentary awards for films he had both directed and edited.

From 2020 to 2024, Jacob studied film at New York University, editing several award-winning narrative short films and learned how to cut on AVID Media Encoder and DaVinci Resolve.

Throughout his career, Jacob has edited award-winning documentaries, music video content for Grammy Award winning musicians, indie feature films and festival winning short films. His work has been screened at Flicker's Rhode Island International Film Festival, New York Shorts International Film Festival, Montclair Film Festival, and many more.
